The Noble Caste of Samurai

Samurai in the past was getting into noble caste. They were a high class society with special rights. The Tokugawa period ( 1603) had signed the changing history on Japanese society. Tokugawa authority had spread over to thoroughly to the entire part of life, from education, legal act, government, and almost all level including suit and behavior of every level of society was being managed.
There were four class in Japanese society that time, first is Samurai, farmers, artists, and trader.
- Samurai
Samurai was the highest level in society’s level, the class samurai has included aristocrat, senior authority, army, and state officer. - Farmers
This caste was not only rich of idea, but also they produce rice, the main foodstuff. During Tokugawa period, farmers are given 60% of their agriculture harvest, while the 40% left must be delivered to Daimyo. - Artist and trader.
Though both of these caste is in the lowest level of the society, but actually both of these caste has more income than farmers.
Due to this fact, Shogun Tokugawa has made stricts and complicated laws to control the trader’s act. Like limitation towards wedding and ceremony, forbid them to use umbrella, and the rule that they must not live in samurai area. All these legal rules was made to avoid the authority shuffle. - The last level/caste – which is actually put beyond outside the caste level called ‘eta’ – is the ‘cast-out’. This is the class for criminals, and people with harsh job like cleaning waste, peel cattle’s leather, burring sentenced criminals, etc.
