The Legend of Lake Sarangan

Once upon the time, there was an old couple whose names were Grandpa Pasir and Grandma Pasir ( pasir = sand ) living in the east forest of Mount Lawu. Slope. Both of them lived in a simple house made of firewood with roof of dried leaves.
To afford their daily living, grandpa Pasir planted greens in their own field. One day during his excavating ground for field, he was surprised with an existence of an egg under a big forest tree.
It is a bit strange actually, there’s no poultry around, but how come an egg was suddenly appeared there. But without long consideration, Grandpa Pasir immediately took the yisterious egg home, and gave it to his wife.
After his arriving home, they agreed to braise the egg and share it for two. Grandpa got back to the field to continue his job. But not long after that, he felt his body is getting warmer, painful all over his body, it hurt so much. Attacked by amazingly pain, he fell down on the ground, flutter around.
He had been cursed !!! . His body changed into a big giant snake, with sharp canine in his right and left mouth,
In the house, grandma Pasir also had the same symptom. She felt a great headache, heat and pain all over part of her body. She couldn’t take the pain anymore that she ran outside to meet her husband. After arriving to field, she was so shocked of seeing his husband in such circumstance.
Not so long, Grandmo Pasir’s body had transformed into snake too. A big snake, as big as grandpa Pasir’ snake figure. Both of the giant snakes rolled their body on the ground surface.
They had made a great flutters and had made the soil around them break in holes. During that moment, a water source. The water kept spouting water and filled the holes around grandpa and grandma Pasir flutter.
Thus the local society then named the lake with Lake Pasir ( Lake sand ). This lake nowadays is more known as Lake Sarangan.
