The name Petra refers to the fact that the houses of this town, be made from stones. It lies in Wadi Araba, a stony dale in Jordan. It is said that to build this town, it takes digging and carving hard stones as high as 40 meters.

Petra was the capital of Nabatean empire. Built at 9 BC -40 C by King Aretas IV as town which was very difficult to be pierced by enemy the most, and was also safe from natural disaster and attack like sandstorm.

The Nabatean Tribe had completed Petra with remarkable complicated irrigation system. There is water-tunnel and water room, channeling clean water to town Petra. This was executed to prevent sudden floods. They also had hydraulic technology to lift water. A legitimate stage theater had also established, which has the capability of 4.000 people.

Until now, the Mausoleum Palace Hellenistis which have the height of 42 meter, is still standing impressive over there.
